October 30, 2009 - Helped organize and participated in the San Francisco Gluten-Free Cooking Spree to help raise awareness and funding for celiac disease in an elegant cooking competition featuring teams of highly acclaimed chefs, assisted by top regional doctors and noted media members. Attendees enjoyed a buffet of hearty hors d'oeuvres, light dinner, desserts, wine and beer--all gluten-free! Hosted by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness on Treasure Island. (A memorable event: participants braved extraordinary traffic, a Critical Mass Bike Rally, and limited access to the Bay Bridge, which was closed for repairs, to attend. Did we mention the oil spill in the bay and the 100 mph police pursuit of a carjacker across the closed bridge? Against all odds, the event was a truly wonderful success!)
