North Bay Celiacs Sonoma County Support Group. Schedule for 2010: Our support group will meet on May 16th, August 15th, and November 14th in Conference Room D at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital at 1165 Montgomery Drive from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Directions. Enter the building by the main hospital entrance, walk to the right; the conference rooms will be on your left by the cafeteria. No need to sign-up in advance. Our Meetup community strives to bring together families and individuals looking to enjoy a gluten free life. We meet periodically to share a gluten-free potluck meal, dine out at a gluten-friendly restaurant, exchange and try out recipes, and participate in other community-building activities. Other news from Solano County Celiacs: Pizza Pirate carries gluten-free pizza. Safeway in the Green Valley Shopping Center in Fairfield, CA has a gluten-free section. Amici's in Vacaville carries gluten-free pizza. Every Thursday in Benicia, the Farmer's Market from 4-8pm has the dipping sauce guy who has a variety of gluten-free dipping sauces.
Gluten Free Pancake Breakfast in Fairfield on Saturday, August 7th Solano County Celiacs is having a GF Pancake Breakfast! Starts at 10am and will be located at Crystal's house in Fairfield, CA. Gluten-Free Cooking Classes in Sausalito August 27th and September 17th
In the Kitchen (ITK) Culinary is planning some gluten-free classes. Coming up:
August 27th: Venezuelan Arepas -Join Venezuelan native Adriana Lopen Vermut, owner of Pica Pica in Napa, for an evening celebrating street foods from her country. Arepas are the national street food and her restaurant focuses on creating these wonderful corn bread pockets filled with a variety of filling. Rounding out the meal are cachapas and batidos. Learn firsthand how to create your own version and since they're all corn, it's perfect for those with gluten restrictions. August 27th, time to be announced. We ‘re also having a Gluten Free Baking Class lead by Chef Karen Diggs who is also an instructor at Bauman College for Holistic Cooking. McNish's Gluten-Free Tasting at Andy’s Produce in Sebastopol. Come taste McNish’s Gluten Free Goodies, baked locally in Cotati and now available at Andy's and the Santa Rosa and Cotati Farmers Markets. Whole Foods Santa Rosa Gluten Free Tour and Tasting on Saturday, August 21st. Gluten free shopping does not need to be a hassle, and gluten free food does not need to be bland. Sign up at Customer Service or email us at Santa.Rosa.Info@wholefoods.com to participate in a Gluten Free Store Tour from 8-9 AM. There will be a Gluten Free Tasting directly after the tour from 9-11 AM, so stop on by and try some of our Gluten Free goodies! Introducing Gluten Free Gluttons – GF restaurant listings for S.F.
We’re an online organization cataloging, recognizing and spreading awareness of gluten-free friendly restaurants, bars, bakeries and grocery stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re working with restaurants’ kitchen staff on providing GF menu options, educating them about cross-contamination and working with bar managers to carry gluten-free beer. Our target audience is young professionals and college students. We strive to alleviate some of the stress and anxiety of eating outside the home for our demographic, a group that seems to be constantly eating outside the home! We’re also hosting events every-other month to highlight different restaurants and help grow the San Francisco Gluten-Free Community. Please check us out at www.glutenfreegluttons.com. Santa Clara Kaiser Celiac Support Group Upcoming meeting: 8/3/10. There is no charge for our meetings, and you do not have to be a Kaiser member to join us. We do like to have a GF potluck/social hour for the second hour and an educational meeting for the first hour. This group started as a pediatric support group and we have opened it to all age groups. Santa Cruz Celiac Support Group
The Santa Cruz Celiac Support Group will meet from 10:30 to 12:30 on Saturday, August 14, at the Satellite Center 6265 Highway 9, Felton, California. Our featured speaker will be Certified Nutrition Consultant Marie Treuge. We will finish with a gluten-free potluck lunch, so bring a gluten-free dish to share along with a list of ingredients or the recipe. Cookbook Author Elana Amsterdam to speak The Sacramento area chapter of the Celiac Sprue Association, in conjunction with the Davis subchapter, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, welcomes Elana Amsterdam, to the combined support group meeting August 7th, held at the Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 317 East 8th Street, Davis, from 12:30 to 3:00 pm. Sacramento Celiac’s Support Group We have support group meetings once per month. This group is for all Sacramento Area Celiac's: children and teens with Celiac, their parents, and adults with Celiac.
